Agendas: Agenda notebooks will go home every day. They provide a great space forcommunication between home and school. Please be sure to sign/initial the agenda daily.
Attendance: We have a lot of great learning planned for the year and it’s important foryour child to be at school each day.
Absences: If your child is sick or has an appointment, please send a note or email so thatthe absence can be coded correctly.
Box Tops: An easy way to help our school is by collecting Box Tops for Education. They are found on many foods and the school earns 10 cents for every box top submitted.
Connect Classes: Students will participate in Connect classes on a 6-day rotation. Art, Music, PE, Technology, Media, and Spanish.
Discipline: Appropriate behavior is expected in our classroom in order to provide a positive learning environment for everyone. Be sure to check out The Playbook 20.

Folders:Students will receive their Cougar Folder each Monday. Please check the folder for important PTA and class information.
Grants: I have the opportunity to apply for grants that will enhance our classroom learning community!
Homework: It is an expectation that every student will read for 20 minutes each day.Additional information about the 2nd grade homework policy will be shared at CurriculumNight.
Internet:Access to educational websites can be a valuable way to reinforce learning.Check out links (for both students and parents) on the Websites page of the class website.
Job Well Done: It is important that our children understand the importance of their school tasks. Encourage them to take pride in their work by reviewing their papers that come home. Be sure to praise them for a Job Well Done.
Join PTA: We have a fantastic PTA at Cotswold! I encourage you to get involved in thefantastic work that they are doing to create a wonderful school environment.
Keep Connected: Take time to talk with your child about their day. Enjoy conversations orshare a book with them.
Lunch: Our lunchtime is 11:05-11:35. Students can purchase school lunches or bring their own from home. We love to have lunch visitors during this time.
Money: Please use a baggie or an envelope when sending money with your child for lunch or field trips. This helps prevent lost money.
Newsletters: Regular newsletters will be available on the webpage. Be sure to check back often for updates.
On Time: Students may enter the school beginning at 8:45 and the tardy bell rings at 9:15.Please help your child arrive to school in plenty of time so they are ready for a terrific school day without feeling rushed or anxious.
Parking Lot: For the safety of all of our children, please follow all parking lot rules when dropping off or picking up students.
Penmanship: We will be introducing cursive handwriting this year. Please encourage your child to take his/her time and to strive for correct letter formation.
Questions: Please feel free to send a note, call me, or email me with any questions orcomments that you have.
Reading Log: Please be sure to fill in the Reading Log (found in the front of the agenda notebook) each night.
Report Cards: Report cards are issued 4 times a year. CMS has created a report card thatbetter aligns with the new Common Core standards. Parent-Teacher conferences will be held at the end of the first quarter.
Student Portfolios: We will be collecting work samples throughout the school year. There will be a Student Portfolio Showcase at the end of the school year.
Tardies: Our school day will start with a Math block. Please be sure to have your child toschool on time so that they do not miss any instruction.
Toys: Unless requested, students should not bring any type of toys to school, as they can be a disruption to classroom learning.
Transportation: If there is a change in the way your child will go home, please send a note with your child to let me know.
Unique: Each child is unique and has special gifts and talents to contribute. I look forward to getting to know your children well over the course of the year.
Volunteers: There are many opportunities for volunteering. I will be contacting families about ways to get involved.
Website: I will regularly update our class website. You will find information important to our class. Please check back often.
X Marks the Spot: Please designate a quiet space for your child to read and complete his/her homework.
